Iran’s ‘Mother, I’m Joseph’ wins best film award at the 3rd Bahía Independent Cinema Festival in Brazil.

Iranian movie ‘Mother, I’m Joseph’ has grabbed the best film award at the 3rd edition of the Bahía Independent Cinema Festival (BINCIF) in Brazil.

Directed by Mohammad-Reza Fartousi, ‘Mother, I’m Joseph’ won the award at the competition section of the third BINCIF.

The film, made in Arabic language, tells the story of Joseph, an Iraqi soldier during the 1980-1988 Iraq-Iran war, who refuses to fight.

He is arrested by the army and disappears for a long time. However, to the astonishment of his family and friends, he returns after 21 years.

Fartousi’s directorial debut is a joint production of Iran, Iraq and Kuwait, starring Zahra Alrabiei, Abbas Ghazali, Hamideh Mousavi, Ahmad Heidari and Hamid Hamidi.

The 70-minute movie had its global premiere last week at the 6th edition of the Delhi International Film Festival.

The third edition of the BINCIF was held December 8-10, 2017, in the Brazilian city of Salvador de Bahia.
